Just moving into Old Orchard Beach?
Here is some important information to know:
- Notify the Post Office of your new address – the Post Office is located in Radley's Plaza, Cascade Road, and the phone number is 934-4401.
- Obtain a Maine vehicle registration – if you are moving within the State of Maine, you have 10 days; if you are moving to Maine from another state, you have 30 days. To register, you will first need to pay the excise tax in the municipality where you live. The phone number for the Tax Collector’s Office, where you will need to register your vehicle, is 934-5714, ext. 231.
- Obtain a Maine Driver’s License – you will need to go to the Dept. of Motor Vehicle. The nearest one to our area is the Kennebunk DMV Branch on Route 1 in Kennebunk; phone number 985-4890, or the Maine Mall branch located in South Portland, 822-0730.
- Register to vote – you may do this through the Voter Registrar's Office, located in the Town Hall. You will need to bring ID and proof of your local address; post office boxes are not acceptable.
- Register your dog(s) – you will need to bring in proof of rabies and neutering certificate for each dog you want to register. Dogs that are neuter/spayed are $6.00/year; male/female dogs are $11.00/year, if not neutered/spayed (effective 2008 year).
- Obtain a Memorial Park Permit -- Residents of Old Orchard Beach may obtain these permits at a cost of $50 each for a combination pass of Milliken Street and Memorial Park, two per household inclusive of all permits. You may obtain these permits at the Town Clerk’s Office.
- Trash pick-up – for information on what day your garbage will be picked up, you may call Blow Bros Inc. (BBI) at 934-3880. BBI also provides Recycling pick-up. For more information regarding recycling pick-up, please contact the Town Clerk’s Office.
