The Town offers Hazardous Waste Disposal days three times a year. May, July, and September are the usual months, being held at Scarborough Public Works (May), Saco Public Works (July), and Biddeford Public Works (September).
Old Orchard Beach residents are allowed to attend at all three locations. Check our web-site for specific dates and times.
Yes, the Town provides a sand-salt mix to residents. Each resident is allowed two (2) five (5) gallon pails per day. There is no cost to residents. The sand-salt mix is available across from DPW, located at 103 Smithwheel Road.

You will need to complete a Street Opening Permit and submit it to the Public Works Department.

The Town is not responsible for maintaining private property, such as removing downed tree limbs or brush. This is the responsibility of the homeowner. The Town is responsible to maintain public roads, infrastructure, and public rights of way. Residents are allowed to dump limbs no larger than 6” in diameter and up to 4’ long, brush and leaves at the Transfer Station off Dirigo Drive Extension. The hours of operation are Saturday and Wednesday 7:30 am – 2:30 pm – closed from noon – 1:00 pm.
