With the closure of the BMV, the office of Governor Janet Mills has suspended motor vehicle registration requirements for all MV registrations, ATV’s, Boats, and Trailers. This order will expire 30 days after the end of the emergency period.

Trucks with a temporary registration plate – Trucks with temporary registration plates are allowed to carry a load until 30 days after the emergency period ends and this document should be kept in the truck at all times.

New vehicle registrations through a dealership or private sale – the temporary plate provided by the dealer will expire 30 days after the end of the emergency period. However, if the sale does not include a temporary registration plate this document will serve as a temporary registration and should be kept in the vehicle until 30 days after the emergency period ends or when you can register normally through Town Hall or BMV.
